Matthew 19:16-22 (NLT)

It is dangerously easy to get caught living like the rich, young ruler in Matthew 19:16-22 (NLT), having convinced ourselves that we've lived an entire life of participating--acting, living, and being a part of--in the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

We must be careful not to live out our faith as spectators. We cannot define participation as spectating. That is like being a fan in the stadium, covered in body paint, yelling and shouting passionately, standing behind your team, but never actually making any plays. We're not coaching, we're not playing, we're not serving. We're just being entertained and counting ourselves as participants because we were there.

God has called us to so much more than that! What will you give up to be on the team and participate? Is God satisfied to have His church just spectating, while the world is in need of a participating church?
